X-SCI Physical Education Medical Excuses and Absences
Physical Education is an active participation class. When a student is absent or unable to participate, make up work should be completed. Make up work consist of all missed assignments and may include daily workouts.
If a student is unable to participate due to an injury or illness, missed assignments/workouts should be completed when the student has recovered and is cleared for participation.
When obtaining a medical excuse note from a medical professional, please have the medical professional provide the following information:
WHS has equipment available that may allow students with limitations to participate including: stationary bike that allows for both upper and/or lower body movement, rowers, and resistance bands.
For a long term medical excuse, please contact the teacher to discuss appropriate options

- Activity limitations (for example, no use of the injured body part)
- Allowed activities … how can the student safely participate in a modified PE program.
- Can the student self monitor their participation level as he/she recovers? Increasing level of participation as the student recovers.
